I painted this when I returned to work after one of the hardest chapters of my life. I wanted her to feel confident, determined, and completely unapologetic about taking up space.

She isn’t delicate. She isn’t quiet. She’s bold, colorful, a little chaotic, and standing tall anyway.

Looking at her now, I realize I wasn’t really painting a peacock. I was painting the version of myself I was trying to become again.

Not untouched by what happened. Not unchanged by it.

Unshaken.
