Marcie (Prints)

This piece represents a turning point in my artistic practice, marking the moment I began letting go of rigid expectations about how a painting should look.

Instead of focusing on perfect values, realistic forms, or technically precise marks, I started painting more intuitively. My brushstrokes became bolder, the colors more confident, and emotional expression began to take precedence over accuracy. Through layers of vibrant color, exaggerated lines, and expressive mark-making, the work evolved into something that was less about replicating reality and more about conveying a feeling.

Creating this piece helped me realize that my strongest work emerges when I stop trying to paint what I see exactly as it appears and instead focus on expressing my experience of it as fully and authentically as possible.
