Veronica will always be a special one for me. She was the very first character I created for my September Snail Mail release, and in a lot of ways, she marked the beginning of a new chapter in my art.

While creating her, I started experimenting more freely with mixed materials—especially my Caran d’Ache Neopastels. I stopped worrying so much about making everything perfect and started focusing on color, texture, personality, and simply enjoying the process.

And somewhere along the way, I completely fell in love with her. 💙

Her bright colors, slightly sassy expression, and larger-than-life personality helped show me what I wanted these characters to become: not just paintings of animals, but little personalities that feel like they have stories of their own.
I’ve created many more characters since Veronica, and my style continues to evolve with each one. But she was the beginning.

There will only ever be one first—and Veronica will always have a special place in my heart. 🦖✨
